Sugar Cane to Poncha
Poncha is a traditional drink from the island of Madeira. This beverage is made with “aguardente de cana”, honey, sugar and different fruit juices, according to the poncha’s version. The most traditional one is called “regional”, and it is made with lemon juice. Sónia, a worker from Calheta Sugar Mill explains the production process of the sugarcane and its different uses.
